Reading Joules Per Terahash on Your Electricity Bill

How to convert lab J/TH figures into monthly KRW costs for your specific tariff.

A benchmark report gives you joules per terahash. Your KEPCO bill gives you won per kilowatt-hour. Bridging the two is straightforward arithmetic that too many operators skip until the invoice arrives.

The Conversion

1 joule = 1 watt-second. Therefore, 1 J/TH means 1 watt-second per terahash.

To find watts per TH/s: multiply J/TH by 1 (since 1 J/s = 1 W).

For a unit rated at 20 J/TH hashing at 100 TH/s:

  • Wall draw ≈ 20 × 100 = 2,000 W = 2.0 kW
  • Monthly consumption at 24/7 operation: 2.0 × 24 × 30 = 1,440 kWh
  • At 95 KRW/kWh industrial rate: ₩136,800/month for that single unit

Where Lab Numbers Diverge from Reality

Our reports measure at controlled ambient temperature (24–26°C). If your farm runs hotter, expect J/TH to worsen by 2–8% depending on cooling. Add 5–10% for PDU losses and wiring if you are comparing lab wall-draw to panel-metered aggregate consumption.
